A move from a downtown condo may start with a loading dock and service elevator. A townhouse move can mean several flights of stairs before the first box even reaches the sidewalk. In a residential area with detached homes, getting to the front door may be easy, but a basement, garage, or backyard can add another part to the job. That is why we ask practical questions before we start. Where can the truck stop? How far is the entrance? Are there stairs? What large pieces are coming with you? Those details give us a much better picture than simply knowing you are moving from a two-bedroom home.

Timing also matters. Vancouver traffic can turn a short drive into a much longer one, especially when the route passes through busier parts of the city. If the destination has a booked elevator window, that timing becomes even more important. We would rather leave some breathing room in the schedule than build a plan that only works if every traffic light is green.

We also recommend looking at both addresses as separate moving jobs. People naturally spend most of their attention on getting out of the old place. Then the truck reaches the new home and somebody realizes the entrance is around the back or the loading zone is already occupied. Townhouses deserve special attention because the living space is often spread over several levels. A bed may be on the third floor, storage on the ground level, and the main entrance somewhere in between. That means the crew needs to keep stairways clear while moving items in stages.

Furniture placement matters especially with heavier pieces. A dresser left in the wrong room is not something most people want to move again after the crew leaves. The same goes for beds, tables, shelving, and larger sofas. If a piece was taken apart before transport, it also helps to place it in the right area before boxes start filling the room around it.

Labels become useful again at this stage. You do not need a complicated colour system unless you enjoy making one. Clear room names work perfectly. If there is one box with the kettle, coffee maker, phone chargers, or bedding you want that evening, mark it separately.
